Write a Resume That Actually Gets Noticed

Recruiters spend an average of 7 seconds on each resume. Your job is to make those seconds count. Here's how to write a resume that stops the scroll and lands you in the interview pile.

Lead With a Strong Summary

The top third of your resume is prime real estate. Instead of a tired "Objective" statement, write a 2–3 line professional summary that answers: who are you, what do you do best, and what value do you bring?

Example: "Results-driven marketing manager with 6 years' experience growing B2B SaaS brands. Specialised in content strategy and demand generation. Increased pipeline by 140% at [Company] through SEO-led content programmes."

Quantify Everything You Can

Numbers make achievements tangible. Instead of "managed a team," write "managed a team of 8 across 3 time zones." Instead of "improved sales," write "increased regional sales by 34% in Q3 2025."

"The resume that wins is the one that shows — not just tells — what the candidate has achieved."

Tailor It for Every Application

A generic resume is a weak resume. Before each application, read the job description carefully and mirror its language in your resume. If the JD says "stakeholder management," use that phrase — not "working with partners."

Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) scan for keyword matches before a human ever sees your resume. Tailoring your language dramatically increases your chances of making it through the first filter.

Keep It Clean and Scannable

Use clear headings, consistent formatting, and plenty of white space. Bullet points are your friend — but keep each one concise. One page is ideal for under 5 years of experience; two pages maximum for senior roles. Never go to three.
